Bevo Tarika

Bevo Cathcart Tarika grew up in South Carolina and Pennsylvania and attended Colorado College where she graduated with a BS in Political Science and International Relations in 1981. After a career on Wall Street in Foreign Exchange Trading and Sales she and her husband Roger Tarika began to raise a family. She graduated from the French Culinary Institute (now The International Culinary Center) in SOHO in 1990. They raised their four children in Connecticut and Surrey, England. She joined the Board of Directors of Horizons at GFA in 2003 where she currently chairs the Directors Committee. In 2016 she began to mentor two refugee families from Burundi in Bridgeport and continues to help them navigate life here in the US. In 2017 she completed the 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program at 108 Monkeys in New Haven for promoting a culture of justice and peace through yoga. She joined the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church Mission Board in 2018 and became a delegate to CCGB for GFCC in 2019. In 2019 she joined the Sasqua Garden Club Board as Co-Chair of Horticulture and attended the GCA National Affairs and Legislation Conference in Washington DC in February of 2020. She enjoys riding her horse, gardening, skiing, fishing, cooking and golf in her spare time.
